A Small Business with a Big Commitment to Quality
Paterson 5 Cleaning, a family owned, commercial and residential cleaning company that started with a simple goal: supporting our growing family while doing honest, quality work.
Back in 2013, with three young kids and a growing family we started taking evening cleaning contracts to help cover the costs of school, sports, and life. What started as extra income quickly grew into a business built on reliability, attention to detail, and genuine care for the work we do.
We began with just a clinic and a highways maintenance building. Today, we’re proud to serve a wide range of government and commercial clients, including police stations, border crossings, city halls, public works, probation offices, courthouses, and even FedEx facilities. Most of our contracts are long-term — typically three years with renewal options — and we’re proud to say we haven’t lost a single one in over 13 years.
What Sets Us Apart
At Paterson 5 cleaning, we’re not a faceless franchise or a hands-off operation. We’re a small, tight-knit team of about 15 to 16 staff, and I stay closely involved in every contract. I personally know my team, our clients, and the work that’s being done. That’s rare in this industry, where many owners never visit the job sites or even know their own crews.
Our clients often tell us they appreciate how attentive, hardworking, and personable we are. We don’t just show up — we build relationships and treat every space we clean like it’s our own.
Our Growth
We’ve grown organically, mostly through word-of-mouth in small BC communities and have been expanding to Edmonton and surrounding areas. One job well done led to another. A happy client referred us to a neighboring city, and soon we were being called on to take over more government contracts. COVID-19 played a role too — as demand for high-quality cleaning rose, so did our reputation.
Today, we’re proud to be the go-to cleaners for multiple municipal, federal facilities and local commercial buildings and shops. . And we’ve earned those partnerships through consistency, quality, and good old-fashioned hard work.
Leadership That Cares
Before starting this business, Russ, one of the owners and main operator of the business, trained and worked in the military as well as border security for 15 years, handling customs and immigration. That job taught him discipline, but he always knew he wanted to lead differently — with care and understanding.
We believe in treating my team well. we pay fair wages, stay in close contact, and support them personally and professionally. Yes, sometimes that means answering texts at 9 PM or giving someone a second chance when they’re going through a tough time. But we believe that’s how you build loyalty — by being human.
Our Promise
We won’t be the cheapest bid, and we’re okay with that — because we don’t cut corners. We focus on quality over quantity, and we never take on a contract we can’t give our full attention to.
